Your Questions, Answered (FAQs)
What is Medical Insurance?
Medical insurance is a type of insurance that you take up, in order for medical expenses to be covered in the event that you need medical care and attention. The benefit of having medical insurance is that it allows you to take care of your health without worrying about the medical cost. Medical insurance does not offer the same benefits as a medical aid and is not a substitute for it. However, medical insurance is a worthwhile option if you cannot afford medical aid.
What are the main differences between the Core and Plus Plans?
The main difference between the two plans is the type of coverage you receive from your plan. The Plus plan for example, is more robust and comprehensive in its coverage, offering Unlimited access to doctors, and specialist visits including Paediatricians, Gynaecologists and more. The Plus plan also offers Chronic Medication for 27 conditions, as opposed to 7 on Core. Review our convenient plan tables on the Core and Plus pages for an overview of what each plan covers and reach out to a broker consultant who can help you make the right decision.
What does an Accident Plan cover?
Hospital Accident Plans are designed to cover you in the case of an accidental emergency. This means that if you are in an accident, you will get the emergency help you need, this includes access to casualty for stabilisation. In the event of hospitalisation, the insured party is covered for up to R380,000 per event, and R1,500,000 per annum. This cover includes Buy-Up Options giving you higher benefits for Accidents as well as an Illness Buy-Up that gives you access to Casualty and In-Hospital treatments in the case of a Medical Emergency. Limits apply.
